| Summer Camps 2008 - Information | |
Open to Girls and Boys from 8 to 18
The Goulbourn Basketball Association and the Kanata Youth Basketball Association, in partnership with the Ottawa Gee-Gees basketball teams will once again be offering elite/competitive basketball camps this summer. Camp Directors are Carlos Brown (former uOttawa Women's Head Coach) and Dave DeAveiro (uOttawa Men's Head Coach). Camp Counselors are current Gee-Gees players. Small group instruction will be tailored to each player's age and skill. These camps are all basketball, all day. The focus is on skill development and conditioning in a fun but competitive environment.
Camp hours will be from 9:00 AM until 4:00 PM. The gym will be open and supervised from 8:45 AM. Campers should plan to arrive at 8:30 on the first day of camp. Camps will be held at both Jack Donohue Public School at 101 Penrith Street in Kanata, and at Stittsville Public School on Granite Ridge Drive in Stittsville. Both Schools are air-conditioned. Some campers may have peanut allergies, so please pack a lunch without peanuts. It is also advisable to bring a water bottle and whatever snacks/drinks are needed during the day as there are no stores available close to the schools and participants will be staying inside the school for the duration of the camp.
Camps Available To Three Age Groups
The Gee-Gees have designed the camps to suit the abilities and desires of different age players. The younger camps will stress more fundamentals and earlier skill development. The older camps will offer players the opportunity to refine their skills to help participants play at the next level. All camps will provide game situations to work on newly acquired skills. These camps are intended for elite/competitive basketball players.
