The number one ranked Goulbourn Stingers Major Atom AA Girls
basketball team completed a highly successful season by
winning Division 1 gold medals at the 2008 Eastern Ontario
Basketball Championships, which were played in Manotick

Stingers Win Bronze At Provincials
The Goulbourn Stingers Major Atom AA Girls basketball
team brought home Bronze Medals from the 2008 Division 3
Ontario Cup Provincial Basketball Championships, which
were played in Windsor March 28th-30th. The Stingers
were ranked 2nd going into the championships.

Hornets win
4th Place Medals at the Ontario Cup Provincial Tournament!
The Goulbourn Hornets Major Atom
basketball team wrapped up a successful season by bringing
home Division 3 4th place medals from the 2008 Ontario Cup
Provincial Basketball Tournament played in London on April
4th-6th. The Hornet’s first game in round robin play was
Friday evening versus the Welland Warriors. The Hornets
didn’t exhibit any signs of the long day of travel when they
took to the court and won their first game 42-34.

Silver Medals in Cornwall!
The Goulbourn Hornets Major Atom
basketball team won silver medals at the Cornwall
Invitational Basketball Tournament held the weekend of
March 28-30th, 2008.Saturday morning the Hornets were
slated to play the Gloucester Selects in the opening
game of their tournament schedule. After a long layoff
over March break and the Easter holidays, a sluggish
Hornets team found it hard to get going but did defeat
the Select team 50-19 to start the day with a win.

Major Midget Hornets Take Gold at the
Ottawa Shooting Stars Tournament!
The 4th Annual Ottawa Shooting Stars Tournament didn't
have a very good start. Ontario was blasted by a huge
winter storm; as a result, Basketball Ontario cancelled
all games on Friday evening, causing a huge shuffle by
the Organizers. Saturday, however dawned bright and
sunny, with the Hornets playing their first game against
the host team, the Ottawa Shooting Stars. The team
played well and defeated the Shooting Stars 56-42.

Stingers Midget
A team Wins Bronze!
The Belleville Spirit Hoops Tournament turned out to be
a bronze experience for the Goulbourn Stingers Midget A
girls’ basketball team.
Travelling to Belleville for the recent tournament, the
Stingers suffered only one loss in their five games but
it was a key game, namely the semi-final contest against
the Lindsay Wildcats. However, despite this loss, the
Stingers were able to play in the bronze medal game
which they won, bringing home bronze medals from the

Congratulations to the Novice Girl Goulbourn Stingers!
The Novice Girls Goulbourn Stingers hosted the Barrhaven
Blue Devils and the Russell Rockets in a Tri-meet at A.
Lorne Cassidy Elementary School , March 1st, and were
undefeated, winning both games. The first game of the day
saw Goulbourn face Barrhaven, a team that is very
competitive and always serves up a great match.

won bronze medals in Division III of the Blessed
Sacrament Boys Invitational Tournament in Hamilton on
the weekend of February 29th – March 2nd.

Ashbury College. The Stinger’s first game in round robin

Pride. The Stinger’s balanced attack from the floor led

Goulbourn
Hornets get the Bronze!
The first weekend
of December, the Goulbourn Hornets Atom basketball team took
part in the Chris Paulin Memorial Basketball Tournament in
Kanata. The Hornets first game in preliminary action was
against the host Kanata Cavaliers. The Hornets worked hard
at both ends of the court to take the game 57-24. Daniel
Currie was awarded player of the game honours for the
Hornets.

Stingers
are Golden in Kanata The first weekend in December saw
the Goulbourn Stingers Major Midget #1 basketball team
participate in the Chris Paulin Memorial Basketball
Tournament in Kanata. In the Friday evening draw versus the
Ottawa Shooting Stars, the Stingers built a 17-10 half-time
lead. The Stingers struggled in the second half, but managed
to hang on to secure a 31-30 win. More... |
